Aperol

Aperol is a reddish-orange coloured aperitif.

Its ingredients include bitter orange, china bark, gentian, and rhubarb root.

It has a taste that is bitter and sweet at the same time, but mostly dominated by the orange.

Aperol can be drunk neat, on ice or with chilled soda.

It is 11% alcohol.

Aperol Soda, with 3 % alcohol, was introduced in 1995. It is sold in Italy in 125 ml (4 1/2 oz) bottles.




Aperol was first made in 1919 by the Barbieri company in Padua, Italy, and introduced to the public at the Padua Exhibition of that year. It was acquired in 1991 by the Barbero company, the same company that makes Frangelico and Campari.

For many years the Aperol slogan was "l'aperitivo degli sportivi" (the aperitif of sporty people.)
