An Avocado Slicer is a tool for making uniform avocado wedges without mooshing any of the avocado. The slices can be used for sandwiches or salads.
Most are about 7 inches (17 1/2 cm) long. Some have their cutting parts made of stainless, and handles made of plastic; others are made completely of nylon plastic. The cutting part is a somewhat circular or oval band, with spokes through it, Nylon ones have spokes coming only part-way into the centre cutting part.
They are designed to, in one motion, turn one-half an avocado into slices, and scoop the slices up at the same time as they are cutting.
To use, you slice an avocado in half lengthwise, and remove and discard the pit. You then hold the avocado skin-side down in the palm of your hand, broad end away from you. Starting at that end, you insert the slicer, and pull down and towards you. You can use a spoon to scoop out any pulp that might be left behind in indents in the shell, etc.
An Avocado Slicer can also be used for fruit such as kiwi and mangoes.
