Black Runner Beans are a variety of runner beans like the more famous Scarlet Runner Beans, but the beans inside the pod are black instead.
They grow on a climbing, spreading plant with attractive red blossoms.
Black Runner Beans have a sweet, wine-like taste, and hold their shape and black colour when cooked. 1 pound (450 g) dry = 3 to 4 cups cooked
Also called:
Phaseolus coccineus 'Black' (Scientific Name)
