Coho Salmon live up to 4 years and weigh from 3 to 20 pounds (1.5 to 9 kg.) They are caught a good deal off Alaska. The average catch from Alaska is going to be 29 inches long (75 cm) and 9 pounds in weight (4 kg.)

The fish have a few fine black spots on the back and tail, and white gums in the mouth. They feed on small fish and, like all Pacific salmon, die after spawning.

The flesh is red or orangey-red.

Coho Salmon have been transplanted into the Great Lakes, but need constant restocking.
